Access & Certification

Learn the method.Demonstrate the standard.

VITALIS™ separates learning, certification and system access—so organisations can see who understands the framework, who may operate VS1 and who may interpret its complete report.

The 2027 pathway moves through three levels: understanding the architecture, applying the evidence and scoring standard, and interpreting the complete report. Course completion is recognised at every level. Professional certification is earned separately through assessment.

How access is structured

Three things,kept separate.

Course completion recognises learning. Certification recognises demonstrated competence. System access is licensed separately to the organisation.

Card 01

Certificate of Completion

Complete the learning.

Recognises that the relevant programme has been completed. It does not confer professional certification, independent operating authority or a system licence.

Card 02

Professional Certification

Demonstrate the standard.

Recognises competence demonstrated through the applicable assessment. It is earned by passing the standard, not by attendance alone.

Card 03

System Access Licence

Apply it within an organisation.

Allows an organisation to use VS1 under an agreed licence. It does not replace practitioner certification or current calibration status.

The credential belongs to the practitioner. The system licence belongs to the organisation. Independent live use requires both.

Three levels · Different depth

Start with understanding.Progress towards independent practice.

Each level has a defined purpose: T0 explains the instrument, T1 prepares practitioners to operate it, and T2 develops complete-report interpretation.

T0

Approximately 1 day · planned for H1 2027

VITALIS™ Foundation

Understanding what VS1 reads and why

T0 builds the language needed to understand a three-axis workplace reading before any scoring or interpretation begins.

  • what VS1 is—and what it is not;
  • why capability alone leaves part of the management picture unstructured;
  • what X, Y and Z examine, and why the axes remain separate;
  • the 18 dimensions and the question each one asks;
  • how different axis patterns can lead to different management questions;
  • what the 8 Evidence Flags are designed to surface;
  • the 18-dimension reference cards.

VITALIS™ Foundation — Certificate of Completion

Boundary

T0 does not disclose scoring formulas. There is no certification assessment at this level, and completion does not permit independent VS1 operation or complete-report interpretation.

VITALIS™ Certified Practitioner

Evidence, scoring and direct VS1 operation

T1 teaches practitioners to turn observed work into an evidence-based reading that another trained person can inspect.

  • how each dimension is evidenced;
  • how a named work instance is recorded;
  • how insufficient evidence and Not observed are handled;
  • how the L1–L5 anchored levels are read and scored;
  • how X, Y and Z remain separate within the scoring structure;
  • how scoring may trigger the 8 Evidence Flags and the follow-up protocol for each;
  • how observer and employee context are preserved;
  • how disputed cases are calibrated;
  • how a first structured reading is entered and completed.

VITALIS™ Certified Interpreter

Complete-report interpretation and applied analysis

T2 develops the judgement needed to interpret the complete report, its deeper analyses and the next management question.

  • how to read a complete VS1 report;
  • how to interpret PRG — Potential Release Gap;
  • how to interpret DRIVE;
  • how to interpret GPI / DI;
  • how to examine the 8 Evidence Flags alongside the anchored levels;
  • how different combinations across X, Y and Z change the question being asked;
  • how to separate a score from its evidence limits and observed conditions;
  • how findings inform management attention and coaching direction;
  • what a second reading adds that a first reading cannot.

VITALIS™ T2 — Certificate of Completion

Assessment choice

Taking the T2 certification assessment is optional. Independent complete-report interpretation requires the T2 certification standard to be passed.

Where no certified interpreter is available internally, AERTHEIX or an authorised interpreter may provide the interpretation.

Calibration

A written standard is the beginning.Agreement still has to be built.

There is no error-free gold standard for human judgement; calibration matters because it makes variation visible, discussable and correctable.

OBSERVE EVIDENCE COMPARE CALIBRATE APPLY RETURN 3 YEARS

Any workplace diagnosis can vary with the observer, the evidence available and the conditions in which the work was seen. Written anchors reduce ambiguity, but they do not ensure that two experienced people will interpret the same instance in the same way.

In a controlled study of a mature structured-observation method used in clinical education, 52 faculty raters evaluating scripted encounters produced an inter-rater reliability result of .43 on the nine-point overall scale for a single encounter. More stable readings in that literature depend on repeated observations, multiple perspectives and calibrated raters—not on one form or one encounter.

VS1 therefore treats calibration as part of the operating method. Practitioners work against disputed cases, compare their reasoning with master-coded references and preserve the points of disagreement rather than resolving them invisibly.

What .43 does and does not mean

The .43 belongs to the cited study and method class. It is not a VITALIS™ result, target or pass mark. VS1 has no published inter-rater reliability result yet. AERTHEIX intends to report its own method, sample size and limitations—including if the result is lower than expected.

SOURCE FROM · Cook & Beckman (2009), Advances in Health Sciences Education: a controlled study involving 52 faculty raters evaluating scripted clinical encounters. The .43 relates to the nine-point overall scale for a single encounter.

Calibration does not remove judgement. It gives judgement a standard against which disagreement can be examined.

The assessment

Attendance is notthe standard.

T1 and T2 certification is assessed separately through applied cases rather than attendance or recall alone.

Candidates work with unfamiliar case material. The assessment asks whether the evidence is sufficient to enter a level, which level the anchors support, whether the three axes have remained separate and where an observation condition is missing. Candidates must also state the limits of a reading and explain how they would handle disagreement.

The current pass standard is 75%. The assessment is untimed.

Untimedthe assessment is not time-limited
Applied casesunfamiliar case material, not attendance or recall alone

An unsuccessful result means that the standard for independent VITALIS™ operation or interpretation has not yet been demonstrated. It is not a judgement about the person's general ability as a manager.

Boundary

Complete assessment, reassessment and commercial terms will be published before enrolment opens.

Credential · Calibration · Status

The credential does not expire.Active status is maintained.

Passing the assessment earns a lifetime professional credential; independent live operation additionally requires current calibration status.

The distinction is deliberate. A credential records the standard demonstrated through assessment. Active status shows that the practitioner's judgement remains aligned with the current operating standard.

Maintaining active status involves an annual declaration of practice, a calibration check on a three-year cycle and a sampling review in which selected practitioners submit one anonymised reading for review.

If a calibration check is not passed or remains outstanding, the professional certificate remains valid. Independent live-operation status pauses until calibration is restored.

T2 certification does not require the course or certification assessment to be repeated. Current T1 active status remains necessary whenever the practitioner operates the live system.

Status 02

Status 03

The credential records what was earned. Active status records whether independent practice is current.

For organisations

Build shared capability. Assign different permissions.

A private cohort can give managers a common evidence standard without requiring every participant to hold the same operating role.

Dates, cohort size, language, role examples and delivery format may be tailored. Capability-axis examples may also be aligned to the organisation and its industry without changing the fixed VITALIS™ architecture or assessment standard.

Every participant who completes the programme receives the applicable Certificate of Completion. A participant who has not yet certified may contribute observations, take part in calibration and prepare draft records for review. Entering scores and finalising an official reading requires the applicable certification, active status and organisational permission.

An unsuccessful certification result does not describe the participant as a poor manager. It means only that the standard for independent VITALIS™ operation or interpretation has not yet been demonstrated.

  • Role and industry example alignment
  • Internal practitioner and interpreter capability planning
  • External report interpretation where internal T2 capability is not yet available

System access

The tool is licensed separately.

VS1 system access is arranged by an organisation under a separate licence; it is not included with a course and is not conferred by certification.

Attending a programme without taking a system licence is a normal outcome. Some practitioners want to understand the framework or hold the credential before their organisation is ready to deploy the tool.

Within a licensed organisation, an active T1 Certified Practitioner may enter, score and finalise readings within assigned permissions. A T2 Certified Interpreter may interpret complete reports and deeper analyses. The organisation determines access according to role and purpose.

Initial VS1 availability is planned for approximately Q2 2027. Licence, support and commercial terms are under final adjustment and will be released together before access opens.

Questions

Answers before enrolment.

Twelve questions about completion, certification, calibration, system access and timing.

No. Completing T0, T1 or T2 earns the applicable Certificate of Completion. T1 and T2 professional certification is earned through a separate assessment.

A T1 Certified Practitioner with current active status may enter evidence, score and finalise VS1 readings within an organisation holding the applicable licence and assigning the required permission.

A T2 Certified Interpreter may interpret complete reports and deeper analyses within the applicable organisational permissions. Current T1 active status remains necessary when operating the live system.

The professional credential does not expire. Independent live operation requires current active status, maintained through an annual practice declaration, a three-year calibration cycle and sampling review.

The result means that the standard for independent operation or interpretation has not yet been demonstrated. You retain the applicable Certificate of Completion, and reassessment is available. Complete terms will be published before enrolment opens.

It is not a judgement about the person's general management ability. The participant may continue to contribute observations and prepare draft records within assigned permissions, while certified practitioners remain responsible for official scoring and finalisation.

No. An organisation may develop internal T2 capability or request interpretation from AERTHEIX or an authorised interpreter.

No. VS1 access is licensed separately to the participating organisation. Certification establishes practitioner competence; the licence establishes where the system may be used.

Yes. T2 interprets readings produced under the T1 evidence and scoring standard, so the T1 programme comes first. Current T1 active status is also required for independent live-system operation.

T0, T1 and T2 programmes are planned for H1 2027. Initial VS1 system access is planned for approximately Q2 2027. Dates remain subject to final readiness and will be released through the Early Access List.

Pricing has not yet been published. The complete schedule—including tuition, assessment, calibration and licence terms—will be released together rather than in parts.

Yes. Dates, cohort size, language, role examples and delivery format may be tailored. The VITALIS™ architecture and certification standard do not change. Arrangements are by consultation.

Certification does not make judgement certain. It establishes the evidence, calibration and practice standard by which that judgement can be examined.
